UNESCO's Sojourner Truth Comic is Live

The Sojourner Truth comic that I worked on is now live here: UNESCO's Women in African History Series . To read the comic you can go here: Sojourner Truth . I do recommend checking out all of the other stories of the many great women featured on the site. Below are a few pages from the comic: Page 1 Page 2 Working on this was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about Sojourner as well as American history. Hope that you enjoy it as well.

UNESCO's Sojourner Truth

Sojourner Truth Some good news to announce: I am, currently, working with UNESCO ( United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ) on their Women in African History series. I was curious if I can capture the fabric of the dress and her as roughly as possible. It was an interesting exercise. This is a woman in a Japanese school uniform. The blazers are a great reference to use and so are the pleated skirts. I was trying to do something a bit looser in terms of brushstrokes and was trying a much different type of brush from the ones I end up gravitating towards. I can't recall why I didn't finish this one... This is a study from Wolfgang Tillman's "Anders, Hamburger Kunsthalle." I thought that the folds that the white tee made as he put up his arms seems like a nice challenge to take up. I was back and forth on whether or not to i...
